Mpower, the mental healthcare initiative by the Aditya Birla Education Trust, recently announced the fifth edition of their charity cycling event, “Ride to Mpower.” This year’s ride will see over 200 cyclists traverse the 170km route from Pune to Mumbai on February 24-25.

The event is spearheaded by Neerja Birla, founder and chairperson of the Trust. She hopes to unite hundreds of professional and amateur cyclists to support greater awareness around mental health. “Beyond the kilometers covered, it is about the collective effort of individuals who want to support the cause of raising awareness for mental health,” Parveen Shaikh, vice president (operations) Mpower, told The Indian Express.

Over the years, Ride to Mpower has become one of Mpower’s signature events. It highlights the link between physical fitness and mental well-being—a connection more people need to recognize. Recent data from Mpower’s Pune center showed that mental health issues among 20-45-year-olds related to anxiety, depression, and stress were common. Support groups remain limited despite this clear need.

Ride to Mpower strives to be a catalyst for reducing stigma and building community. Exercise releases endorphins—”feel good” chemicals that help combat conditions like anxiety and depression. Cycling and outdoor activity are medicine for both body and mind. Tapping this natural synergy can empower more individuals to take control of their mental health.
