24% of Indians are trying to cope with different stress types

Feel that your stress levels have gone up post-COVID 19?

The 2022-23 GoQii India Fit Report surveyed over 10,000 Indians to understand the primary causes for stress. The results revealed that workplace dynamics and financial instability are two of the top stress factors.

Overall, 24% of Indians are struggling to manage some type of stress, while 26% and 17% of the participants were stressed due to their jobs and finances, respectively. A lack of work-life balance with extended working hours, job insecurities, and low salaries have been driving job dissatisfaction, resulting in a lot of stress. To add to the burden, economic instability and the recent trend of mass layoffs across India and worldwide have given rise to financial worries, causing inordinate anxiety and stress.

Other factors like fearing future scenarios, lack of sleep, and relationship issues have also been driving stress levels high.

There was also a difference between the stress levels in men and women with the latter showing a higher percentage. Women were more stressed at 27% compared to men who stood at 19%. For women, the key factors revolved around balancing home and work along with health issues, gender disparity, and stress arising from being the primary caregivers.

The mounting uncertainty is the basis of the high stress levels which can be controlled with a balanced diet, changes in lifestyle and appropriate sleep patterns. We at GoQii believe that preventive healthcare is the future and the only viable, long-term solution given the huge load on the healthcare system in India,” said Vishal Gondal, Founder and CEO, GoQii in a press release.
