Butterfly Learnings (registered as Bombay Autism Services) recently secured ₹65 Crore ($6.7 Million) in a Pre-Series B funding round led by Inflexor Ventures. The round saw continued support from existing investors, including Insitor Partners, Enzia Ventures, and IIMA Ventures. Coming just two years after their initial seed round and a ₹32 Crore Series A, the startup's growth signals something larger than capital: a shift toward standardizing and humanizing pediatric behavioral healthcare in India.
An estimated 45 million children in India live with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or specific learning differences. Yet, the healthcare ecosystem has long been plagued by fragmented treatment, late diagnoses, and a severe shortage of qualified specialists.
Founded by Dr. Sonam Kothari and Dr. Abhishek Sen, Butterfly Learnings operates on an omni-channel model designed to meet families where they are. Rather than relying on isolated clinical visits, the platform integrates Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), speech therapy, occupational therapy, and digital interventions into a cohesive care plan.
"When we started Butterfly Learnings, the question we kept coming back to was notwhether families wanted help; they desperately did, but why the system kept failing them. The answer was always the same: fragmentation," said Dr. Kothari in a press release.
Today, their footprint spans more than 90 physical centers across 22 cities, giving families a structured space for community-based care.
Catching the early signals
The startup focuses on early intervention. Butterfly Learnings holds the global license for Get SET Early—a CDSCO-approved, eye-tracking screening tool.
By analyzing visual attention patterns, the software can flag developmental concerns in infants as young as 12 months old. In a country where autism is often not formally identified until a child reaches four or five, gaining those early years back can fundamentally alter a child’s developmental trajectory.
To keep care consistent outside the clinic, its digital platform lets parents track therapeutic progress in real time, replacing guesswork with data-informed insights.
Butterfly Learnings operates an in-house training institute accredited by the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE) to continuously upskill care providers. With the new ₹65 Crore infusion, the team plans to expand deeper into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, partner directly with hospital networks to bring screening tools into routine pediatric checkups, and refine their AI-driven care models.
