Healing through art: A specialized workshop for mental health professionals and students

Mental health professionals and advanced students specializing or interested in trauma therapy have an exciting opportunity to deepen their knowledge and practical skills through the unique integration of art and therapeutic techniques.

A specialized two-part online workshop titled “Trauma & Art: Listening to the Lines on Paper” offers participants hands-on insights into using creative expression as a potent tool in trauma healing.

Led by Dr. Sugandh Dixit, a clinical psychologist holding a Ph.D. from Duquesne University, USA, this experiential workshop series uses innovative methods like drawing and narrative body maps. These art-based tools are specifically designed to assist individuals in safely exploring and articulating traumatic experiences, especially those rooted in early, pre-verbal developmental stages.

The first workshop, scheduled for April 27, 2025, titled “Foundations of Witnessing Trauma,” focuses on understanding how to identify and work effectively with various self-states through art.

The second session, taking place on May 11, 2025, titled “Deepening Trauma Work Through Art,” will expand on these concepts, providing strategies for recognizing and resourcing multiple self-states, thus enhancing client safety and agency.

Complex trauma—including childhood interpersonal neglect, abandonment, abuse, and parentification—often leaves individuals struggling to verbally communicate their emotional and psychological experiences. This workshop emphasizes how art therapy can bridge this gap, providing non-verbal yet deeply expressive channels for healing.

Each session costs INR 2,500 (USD 30), with a special discounted rate of INR 5,000 (USD 60) available for attending both workshops. Upon registering, participants will receive carefully selected readings and materials to enrich their learning and practical application.
