If you live in Bengaluru, now you can simply head on over to the Rage Room. The Rage Room was launched on 4th of February 2023, by Ananya Shetty, a 23-year-old digital marketer and IIT Madras alumna. Located in the quiet, residential neighborhood of Basavanagudi, the Rage Room aims to help you release pent up anger, feelings of aggression, and soften your trauma.

Customers can opt for different packages, offering varied lengths of duration they can spend in the room as well as the number of items. For example, a 30-minute package gives you bricks, beer bottles, a chair or table, clay pots, and other items to vent your frustration.

“Taking out frustration on physical items by using our strength gives a cathartic release and it lets out the pent-up emotions like anxiety, pain, grief, and trauma within an individual. In metropolitan cities like Bengaluru, spaces are constrained, we don’t have space or freedom to vent out frustration in a healthy way…” says Ananya to the Indian Express.

Where did rage rooms start?

The first rage or anger rooms began in Japan when the country went into recession in 2008. After its success, the concept quickly spread to other parts of the world. 

India got its first anger room with Bhadaas Cafe, which opened in Indore in 2017.
