MyndStories launches MyndSafe: India’s first content-led school mental health program

As mental health challenges among Indian students reach crisis levels, MyndStories, India’s first holistic content-driven mental health platform, has launched MyndSafe, a suite of innovative, culturally sensitive mental health programs designed specifically for schools and colleges.
What ails the Indian education system?
Post-pandemic, Indian school children are witnessing a sharp rise in anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation among students. Academic pressure, digital overload, bullying, and social isolation are impacting children at younger ages than ever before. Alarmingly, suicide is now the leading cause of death among Indian adolescents aged 15–19. Yet, most schools still lack structured systems to detect distress early, respond with care, or openly discuss emotional well-being.
The MyndStories approach
Unlike traditional therapy-first models, MyndStories uses storytelling, expert-driven resources, and bite-sized content to make mental health conversations relatable and actionable.
“We’re by Indians, for Indians, addressing cultural nuances and building a community where mental health is cool, not taboo,” says co-founder Smitha Murthy.
Introducing MyndSafe: Holistic, modular, and scalable

MyndSafe brings a range of structured, age-appropriate, and trauma-informed mental health offerings to schools, including:
- #SafeCircles: Facilitated group sessions for students (Grades 9–12) using stories and creative prompts to address peer pressure, failure, bullying, and identity.
- #TalkToMe: Teacher workshops on recognizing student distress, responding without judgment, and escalating responsibly—complete with red-flag checklists and handbooks.
- #StrongNotSilentPeer: Storytelling circles featuring real journeys through anxiety, depression, and recovery, delivered live or digitally.
- #SOSforParents: Parent dialogues on talking to children about failure, loneliness, social media, and suicide warning signs, with optional Q&A clinics.
- #PauseNotBreak: Crisis readiness consulting, helping schools establish mental health response plans and suicide escalation frameworks.
- #EveryDayMatters: A monthly digital toolkit with emotional wellness prompts, audio reflections, posters, and five-minute class rituals for daily wellbeing.

Building safer, more supportive schools
MyndStories aims to create school communities where students feel seen, supported, and safe. “We want to move beyond awareness to action, giving teachers, parents, and students practical tools to prevent suicide, reduce stigma, and nurture emotional wellbeing,” says co-founder Swati Nair.
