What is it to choose to live alone? As an Indian woman?
In this episode of the MyndStories Minis, we have the author of ‘Table For One: A Solo Living Manual For The Curious Indian Woman,’ Sumaa Tekur give us those answers.
Find out why Sumaa wrote this book, the journey she undertook through its writing, and why she considers herself quite rare:
“An Indian woman living alone in India is rare.
An Indian woman living alone in India by choice is rarer.
An Indian woman living alone in India by choice when her parents live in the same city is rarest.”
Quote from the conversation
“In India, we actually don’t really know how to deal with living alone. We see it as a sad, depressing thing. And I wanted to, through this book, break that myth that it’s actually a beautiful experience if you’re willing to work on yourself, and you can actually be enriched by this whole experience of living alone.”
We talk about
- Having choices in life
- How living alone comes with challenges and benefits
